Current Construction Activity

As the ERI project continues its work to update Stanford’s electrical infrastructure, construction activity will impact different parts of campus. This page provides weekly updates on current construction activity, including specific locations, impacts to Stanford community members, and working hours.

Escondido Village

Buildings 7, 15, 16, 18, 21, 30, 32, 38, 41, 42, and 50

There will be intermittent loud construction activity near Buildings 7, 15, 16, 18, 21, 30, 32, 38, 41, 42, and 50 on Wednesday, August 19.

8-hour Shutdowns

The following buildings will experience 8-hour power shutdowns from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.:

Building 150 will experience shutdowns on Thursday, August 13
Buildings 7, 32, 33, 40, 41, 42, 49 and 50 will experience shutdowns on Tuesday, August 18
Buildings 15, 16, 52, 53, 54, and the Angell Court Streetlights will experience shutdowns on Wednesday, August 19

During these scheduled shutdowns, no electrical outlets or lights will function. Domestic water will continue to be provided in kitchens and bathrooms, but hot water will not be available. Water will start reheating soon after electrical services are restored, and hot water should be available within two hours thereafter. Impacted residents have been sent additional information.

Dudley Lane and Comstock Circle

There will be intermittent project team presence within project fencing at Dudley Lane and Comstock Circle. Electricians will be working near Buildings 2, 3, 34, 35, 36, 48, 52, 53, 54, and near 52 Dudley Lane through Friday, August 21.

Main Campus

Main Campus Shutdowns

The following buildings will experience shutdowns around central campus:

Sweet Hall will experience a 5-hour power shutdown from 6 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 13.
Sigma Phi Epsilon, Kappa Sigma, 670 to 675 Lomita, and 680 Lomita will experience a 5-hour power shutdown from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday, August 25.
Kappa Alpha, Jerry, and Lake House will experience a 5-hour power shutdown from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, August 26.

Central Campus

There will be excavation work concluding by late September near:

Peterson Engineering Building
- Bike racks outside of this building will not be accessible during this time
Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, Shops and Admin Building
Mitchell Earth Sciences Building
Blume Earthquake Engineering Center
Center for Design Research
Student Housing Assignments
Press Telecommunications Building

This work will also require an intermittent single lane closure of Panama Mall and Duena Street through the end of August. On weekdays from Tuesday, August 25 through Friday, September 11, both lanes will be closed to all traffic except deliveries and emergency vehicles from 9 a.m.-5 p.m. All other traffic will be rerouted onto Santa Teresa during this timeframe.

There will be several additional intermittent single-lane road impacts and closures through August around central campus. The following areas will be impacted:

Lomita Drive from Santa Teresa Street through Levin Field
Arguello Way near Casa Zapata and Burbank Hall
